I have gone from 2.0 to 2.1, I have tried Adobe Audition 3.0 even and all seem to have the same problem. My voice only comes out the left speaker when I play stuff I recorded but for some reason the beat plays out both speakers. Most likely you will have to open your mixer and select Properties; choose the Record properties and set your microphone input in the middle, so that it's balanced on left and right. By the way, if you learn to use the 'noise removal/keep' control, you can do a great job of taking off voices and having a stereo result, simply by getting the noise sample to keep, while discarding the voice. This even works on mono recording. My oldest home-made karoke was one recorded by Kay Starr in 1948. I have a slightly different issue. While I do see the left channel only thing on Cool Edit Pro 2.1, and it essentially works on Win 7, I am having trouble recording to my Cool Edit Pro (old version) that I'm running on Windows XP Mode in the Windows Virtual PC option on Win Ultimate 7. It installed fine, and I can open a static.wav or.mp3 file, and ostensibly edit it any way I need to, but I cannot record to it via the Line In cord, from an external audio source, the same way I can into Cool Edit Pro 2.1.
